I can't believe it! Where does the time go? I know it's a good thing that they have birthdays and get older, but it's a little sad too. Especially this birthday because it means she will be leaving me in the fall and going off to kindergarten. I'm almost in tears just thinking about it. Anyway, I can't be sad for too long because she is absolutely thrilled to be 5. She has been counting down the days all week, and then last night she finally realized that John David will be here soon because I have been telling her that he would be here after her birthday because she used to ask me everyday. She woke up at 6:15 this morning to ask, "Am I five yet?" Although it is rare for her to get up that early, I am actually surprised that she wasn't up asking that question in the middle of the night as excited as she was. She also asked several times throughout the day, "Are you sure I am five?" or "Am I still five?"
Since she saw us wrapping Katie's present to her the night before, and was so excited to rip into it, we let her open it before Katie left for school. She loves these Barbie mermaids, and I think Katie gave her this one, so she could play with her other one. Pretty sneaky, but clever Katie. This morning we also took her to get her ears pierced because she had said that's what she wanted to do on her birthday. However, after we had picked out earrings, paid for them, and the lady had marked her ears and was about to do the deed, she changed her mind, and there was no changing it back. Oh well, plenty of time for that later. And one less thing for me to have to do too!
Tonight we had Maw Maw and Paw Paw and Maw Maw Mire over for cake and ice cream, and of course, some presents too. She is so excited...and cute!
Maw Maw Mire gave her this cute little doll that sings 'Mary Had a Little Lamb', which she loves.
And Maw Maw and Paw Paw gave her a cool checkers game, and a pack of the travel size Kleenex. Maw Maw had given her a pack of tissues at church on Sunday, and she was beside herself with excitement. She just kept thanking her over and over. So when Johnice asked what she wanted for her birthday, I told her to get her a box of Kleenex and she would be thrilled. And she was!
We gave her the bitty twins boy doll to match the girl doll she got for Christmas. She immediately named him Chad and was so cute all night playing with him. I told her now she has a little boy to take care of while mommy takes care of John David when he gets here in just a few days. He even slept with her in her bed tonight.
Some things about Sarah at age 5:
*She loves to take a bath and play with her mermaids. She usually takes one in the morning after she wakes up and one at night with Katie. When we try to get her to skip the morning bath, she will say, "But Jesus wants me to be clean."
*She loves babies, and is going to be a wonderful big sister. She already has a long list of things she is going to teach John David to do.
*She likes to make up stories and will talk your ear off when she gets going.
*She still likes to take naps (which has been very nice for me during this pregnancy) and will come to get me and tell me when she is ready.
*Her favorite color is blue because her eyes are blue, and whenever she is asked to choose a color of a sucker or hair bow or whatever, she will pick blue because it matches her eyes.
*She is very sweet and soft spoken, until she gets upset, at which point she suddenly becomes very loud.
*She loves her family very much, and is always saying, "I'm so glad I'm in this family!" We are too sweetie! Our family would be incomplete with you! We love you!
