Choot 'em, John, Choot 'em!

My boys get pretty excited when Thursday night comes around.

They love to watch Swamp People.

And I love to watch them watching Swamp People. Okay....mostly I love to watch John David watch Swamp People. He gets his gun and choots dem gators too. He says, "Pow! Pow!"

He uses the Wii gun.

Yeah....he needs to work on his shooting position, but he's only two.

High fives and knuckle bumps are in order after he gets dem gators.

Good job buddy!

I'm Alive.....and Well

Just a quick post to say that we are back from North Carolina. We actually got home last Monday, but we've just been trying recover and get back into the swing of things. I have so many updates I am working on, and once again I am having issues with blogger. I have been having problems since March, and it's getting sooooooo frustrating. I've had pictures and entire posts disappear. I've even had problems accessing my blog at times, which is part of the reason why I haven't been a consistent blogger like I would like to be. So.....stay tuned......I'll get caught up eventually.

I've got a job!

For the first time in over ten years, I have a job. Not really. I've just decided to start making cakes to make a little extra money. My friend Nikki (who is Katie's friend, Payton's mom) has seen and tasted several of my cakes, and although she was not at Katie's last birthday party, she heard about Katie's cake. So a few months ago she asked if I would be interested in making her son, Tyler's birthday cake. I told her I would love to. All she really asked for was a beach theme, with surf boards, and she wanted the cake (inside) to be tie-dye, like Katie's birthday cake was. So here is what I came up with.

This is a 10 inch square, which feeds about 35-40 people.

I decided to make an LSU surfboard since they are serious LSU fans.

And this was my favorite part of the cake--the shark. Love it! I think it turned out pretty cute. And so did Nikki. She loved it....and so did everyone at the party. They really went crazy when Nikki cut into the cake and they saw all the colors. Everyone was asking if I have a business. I told them I was just trying to get started, and that Nikki was my first customer. Several people asked if I had any business cards. I told them not yet, because I was still trying to think of a name. Nikki's father-in-law told me not to worry about a name and cards and to just let the word get out. Then he took a bite of cake and said, "I've got a name for you--Best damn cake I ever ate! This is so good!" It was pretty hilarious! But I do have to say.....I think I like that name better than any we have come up with so far.

One of the other mom's at the party asked if I could make her son's birthday cake in two weeks. And I have my first wedding cake coming up in July too!

The Angel's Team Party

This afternoon Sarah and I went to her team party at Mr. Gatti's. The Angels visited with each other while they ate pizza and cookie cake. Then they each got these cute medals with their name on the back.

Then they each got some tokens to go play some games. Sarah loves air hockey, and challenged me to a game. And let me tell ya....she's no angel. She creamed me.

Then she decided to waste use the rest of her tokens trying to get a stuffed animal from "the claw".

When I was a kid, these things were so impossible. We were never able to get one, but she totally got one (almost two) on her second try. I'm thinking it must be easier than when we were kids.

As we were leaving, she went to give her coach a hug. She just loves him.

Thanks for a great season Coach Allen!

Father's Day

President Harold B. Lee truly stated that “the most important of the Lord’s work that you [fathers] will ever do will be the work you do within the walls of your own home. Home teaching, bishopric’s work, and other Church duties are all important, but the most important work is within the walls of your home” (Strengthening the Home [pamphlet, 1973], 7).

I am grateful to have a husband that takes his role as a father seriously, and takes time with each of our kids to make sure that they know that he loves and cares for them. Even though we were on the road for most of the day and didn't get to properly celebrate you, we feel so blessed to have you in our lives honey! You are our very own Superman!

squeezing in some visits

When we got to Mom's house today there was very little time for sitting and relaxing. We needed to go pick up groceries for camping for the week, and I wanted to squeeze it two very important visits since this would be our only day in Albertson. First we went to Daddy's grave for a few minutes. Sometimes it just doesn't seem like he is really gone......until I go home.

Then we went to see Grandma. She just turned 91 in March, and seems to be doing good. It was great to see her.

So glad we got to squeeze in those two important visits!

Camp Singletary.......here we come!

We're heading out this morning for our summer trip to North Carolina. We are excited beyond words.....not just because it's summer and we get to go spend a week at Camp Singletary with all of our favorite Tarheels.....but also because for the first time ever in the history of our summer trips to North Carolina.......Aaron is coming with us!!!!!!!! So.....my only two wishes for this trip are that we have a safe and fun trip......and that my husband's cell phone will not work in the middle of nowhere North Carolina!

My Mastercard Commercial

Glove--$10

Cleats--$13

Helmet--$15

Seeing the smile on her face as she learns new things and gains confidence in herself--PRICELESS!

end of the season.......almost

It's the end of the t-ball season already. Well, Sarah's team actually has two more games next week. But we will be in North Carolina, so she will miss them. She has really enjoyed playing t-ball, for the most part. There were a few things she didn't like so much.....like not getting a good hit.

And getting tagged out.

She would get really frustrated with herself, even though we would tell her it's okay, and that it's all part of the game.

And sometimes she would get a little distracted.

But she absolutely loved listening to her coaches and learning all that she could from them.

And getting a good hit and making it to base.

And drinking Powerade. (On a side note, she told me one night as we were getting to the ball field and getting her stuff out of the van that I needed to carry all of her stuff for her because she was a ball player famous now. She cracks me up.)

And being part of a team.

And she absolutely loved it when her family and friends were there to watch her play and cheer her on.

This little fan really wanted to be part of the team though.

Always looking for something to get into.

We tried distracting him with treats, but it only worked for a limited amount of time. Won't be long before we're coming to watch him play ball.

Tonight the Angels played Sarah's friend, Carolyn's team. She was all worried about them still being friends because they were on different teams and playing against each other. I assured her that they could be on different teams and still be friends, even though one team would win, and one team would lose. She's such a tender hearted little girl.

Great job Angel! We sure have enjoyed watching you play t-ball!

My Funny Kids

My kids crack me up all the time. Here's a sample of the comic relief they provide on a daily basis.

John David--The other day I noticed that he needed a new diaper and asked him, "Do you have a poopy?" He said, "No. Sarah poopy." Ha! He's only two and he's already blaming stuff on his sisters.

Sarah--The girls and I were shopping at Walmart when Katie said, "Mom, I'm thirsty." Before I could even respond, Sarah said, "Just swallow your spit Katie!" That is not something that I tell them, so I have no idea where that came from, but it was so funny.

Katie--Last week Katie finally updated her blog after not posting anything on it for over a year. Here is what she wrote.

i am now 10

John is now 2

Sarah is now 7

and mom and dad are still very old

Ha! We are not just old....we are apparently "still very old". I would have been offended.....if I hadn't been laughing so hard! Love my sweet and funny babies!

The Book of Mormon is True!

Even in cake form! You can't really tell from this picture the size of this cake, but it was big. As in, enough to feed 80 people, big.

I made this cake for our Stake Youth Read-a-Thon. They read the Book of Mormon in two days. Very impressive!

I hope they enjoyed the "fruit" of their (and my) labor!
