Louisiana Day

The 3rd graders at Maplewood celebrated Louisiana Day today. Each class rotated to different classrooms for different activities. They learned all about Louisiana wetlands, the life cycle of a crawfish, Mardi Gras, and got to hold a baby alligator. They even got to eat all kinds of different Louisiana foods and  decorate their own king cake. Here's Sarah with her good friends, Madison and Carolyn.



Each student was also allowed to decorate their own float and bring it to school to display.

It's kinda plain and simple. She said she didn't want to do one, but I knew she would be sad when she got to school and didn't have one. So we threw this one together last night.



After all of the activities, the 3rd graders got their floats and beads and put on a little Mardi Gras parade for the rest of the students.

my baby is four

Our handsome boy is four today.



He is without a doubt the loudest,



and silliest,



and sweetest four year old I know.



He is ALL BOY! He loves being outside, working with or doing anything with his daddy, superheroes (especially Iron Man), Honey Nut Cheerios, Chinese food, helping mama with the dishes, and hanging out with his sisters.



He still loves camouflage and wants to wear it all day, everyday.



He has a very tender heart and sometimes gets his feelings hurt easily. So he'll run away and sit and pout somewhere. I think this is a side effect of living with two sisters.



He can be a little demanding at times, which I think is partly because he is the baby.



But I seriously don't know what I'd do without this boy.



He is always the first to volunteer to say the prayer, and always says the sweetest things. He brings so much happiness to our home.



He keeps us laughing all the time with his silly antics.





He really is the sweetest boy in the whole world, and I make sure to tell him that everyday.



Happy birthday sweet boy! We love you to pieces!

Our sweet Sarah is nine today.



My how time has flown by since she was born.



And what a great addition she has been to our family.



She has such a sweet, kind, and tender heart. She likes to make people happy.



She is also pretty funny, and downright silly at times. She loves to laugh, and make other people laugh too.



She is absolutely passionate about chocolate and Chinese food. (No idea where she gets that from. Ok...it's me.)





She also loves animals.



And she wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up.



She is a perfectionist....which can be a bad thing at times because she gets down on herself way too easily. (I'm afraid she inherited that trait from her mother too.)



She is also our little fashionista.



She loves shoes, earrings, and all things girly.



She loves her brother and sister like crazy. And even though she doesn't always get along with them, she will come to their defense at a moments notice and the Grandma Heath comes out in her.



We just love this girl to pieces!



And are so happy with the little lady she is becoming.

what happens when i'm not looking

We went to Kent and Johnice's today for piano. While Johnice and I were talking, Sarah took my camera while I wasn't looking. And here is what she captured.

Sarah's My Little Pony Party

My sweet girl had her birthday party today.



It was a beautiful day for a party...and pictures too.



And since I was taking pictures, Iron Man....I mean...John wanted his picture taken too. I love how these two stick together like glue.



Sarah is so into My Little Pony right now. When she first told me she wanted a My Little Pony party, I questioned her and wondered if the theme was too young for her. But then I decided it was a good thing that she's not trying to be older than she is. I certainly don't want to rush her growing up....so I embraced the cute little girl theme and we had so much fun planning this party together. We had some fun activities, like Rainbow Dash's Hoof Painting Parlor.



The girls loved getting their nails done.



And Applejack's Branding Station.......



.....where the girls picked out a tattoo with their favorite pony.



Even the big girls got branded.



Then we played some fun games, like Pinkie Pie's (who loves to plan parties) Gumball Guessing Game.



And Fluttershy's (who is Ponyville's animal lover) Animal Rescue Adventure.



Even Iron Man enjoyed this game. He came a week early. The superhero party is next week Iron Man.



Then the girls played Pass the Pony.



After the games, Sarah opened her gifts from her friends.



Then Katie and Emily covered her eyes so we could give her an unwrapped gift from Mama and Daddy.



She was so surprised. She has been wanting her own bow ever since Katie got hers for Christmas.



But her Daddy has been telling her he couldn't find one her size. Yeah, he fibbed a little.



Then it was time for the food.



We had lots of fun food....like Pinkie Pie Lemonade, Twilight's Unicorn Horns, Emerald Ray's Coins, Rarity's Pop-ular Corn, Fluttershy's Bunny Treats, Applejack Slices, and Rainbow Dash Fish.



And of course a My Little Pony birthday cake.

Make a wish sweet girl!



She had so much fun at her party, and so did John David. He declared it the "best party ever!"



After the party, she was dying to try out her new bow. So she went outside and Katie and Daddy helped her learn the ropes.
