Cousins in the Bayou

The best part of going to North Carolina this summer was bringing part of it back with us. My sweet nieces, Kyleigh and Marleigh, came back to the Bayou State with us to hang out for a couple of weeks. So we quickly went to work introducing them to life in Cajun Country.  As we were driving through Jennings on our way home, we stopped to let them see the baby alligators.



Sarah was, of course, the first to ask to hold the alligator.



Then Katie. I love the look on Kyleigh and Marleigh's faces in this picture.



John David wanted a turn too.



I just love that smile! He's so stinkin' cute!



It took a little bit of encouragement, but Kyleigh and Marleigh both held the alligator.



And they thought it was pretty cool.



They are pretty cute when they are this little.



Sarah took another turn.



And asked lots of questions.



Then we took a couple of pictures outside.





And then hit the road so we could get home and see Daddy. We've been missing him like crazy!



After getting home and visiting with Daddy for a little while, we decided these girls needed to taste some Cajun cuisine. So we took them to Holliers and got them some boiled crawfish.



They thought they tasted ok, but not really worth all the work to get that tiny piece of meat. Haha!



They also tried fried alligator and boudin balls, and loved them both.



We're so glad to have them here with us and can't wait to make some fun memories with them!
